THE CONSERVATIVE council plans to knock down Broadway Car Park and rebuild it over two years, without providing enough spaces to cover the number lost.

Lib Dem councillor Simon Werner said, “Although there will be some new temporary car parking spaces created, in 2019 there will be around 850 fewer spaces in the town centre and in 2020 over 1000 fewer spaces. Also, with the popular surface car parks being removed, this will cause problems for many.”

“The council needs to rethink its parking strategy with proper bus, train and cycling interchanges and look again at how to rebuild Broadway without losing 800 spaces for two years.”

We demand that the Conservative Council rethinks their parking strategy so that it does not lead to a drop in the number of car park spaces over the next few years
