Give residents back their parking discounts

After a two year campaign from the Lib Dems to get back a resident parking discount, it is finally being reintroduced. Thank you to all the residents who have supported our campaign.

Adam Bermange was part of the campaign to keep residents parking discounts

However the scheme proposed in very poor. Only West Street, Grove Road and Boulters Car Parks are included – not the main shopping car park Nicholson’s.

Also the scheme is complicated. It uses the Ringo App and you need to register ahead to say you want to use a particular car park.

We we will continue to campaign for improvements to the scheme so please do sign up to hear more.

We demand the council brings back a more generous scheme for resident parking discounts

Two years ago the Conservative council removed the residents parking discount that operated through the Advantage Card.

The council admitted at the time that previous spending decisions and a failure to meet previous savings and income target has led to this financial meltdown. Lib Dems have been warning of this spending crisis over the last few years and have sadly been ignored. Now they are being proved right!

Worryingly, these changes will have unintended consequences. If parking prices go up then more people will go to other town centres – destroying what’s left of Maidenhead centre, contributing to more emissions and seeing car park income drop not rise.
