The consultation on moving the Maidenhead Crown Post Office in to the back of WHSmiths has started and Lib Dems are appealing to all residents to respond to the Consultation.
Local Lib Dems arranged a public meeting which was attended by concerned customers and employees of the Post Office and Royal Mail and Councillor Simon Werner.
Concerns raised included:
- Fitting a franchised post office into the new WHSmith’s
- Coping in the Christmas period (including parcel collections by Royal Mail)
- Service and training concerns given Smith’s staff turnover
- Implications for the town centre and nearby businesses
- Concerns about the current long-serving staff
- The future of a franchised post office in a retail environment.
Simon Bond said “No-one at the meeting could see how a post office could fit into WHSmith’s”.
Regrettably, the Post Office’s management declined to attend the meeting and respond to concerns
If you share these concerns please respond to the Post Office Consultation by going to the link: https://www.postofficeviews.co.uk/branchcode.php?query=005946&frmnd=liveconsultation by the deadline 22nd June 2016.
