Save our Pharmacies

Josh recently met with the team at H A McParland Pharmacy in Furze Platts.
They discussed the frustrating situation that many community pharmacists find themselves in.
Pharmacies such as McParland’s are the frontline of our community’s healthcare system, with residents relying on them, any threat to our pharmacies is a threat to our entire community’s health.
The price of our medicines has skyrocketed recently, but the price paid to pharmacies by the Government hasn’t kept up. Our local pharmacists often have to buy the drugs they dispense for more than the Government reimburses them. This means they are having to operate at a loss and many simply can’t afford to stay open. Clearly this ridiculous situation can’t continue. Pharmacies are crucial to our health service and they are – quite literally – a lifeline for the patients they serve.

One of Joshua’s Liberal Democrat colleagues, Marie Goldman, was able to raise this issue with the Prime Minister this week – you can see her question here.

To call on the government to stop this madness, and save Maidenhead’s community pharmacies, we are starting a petition calling on the government to make a change.
